Molly J. Tank graduated Grand Valley State University in 2024 earning a Bachelors of Fine Arts, with an emphasis in oil painting. Having grown up surrounded by the open spaces, national parks, and fresh water, her work is inspired by the natural world. Focusing on how light and color interact, Molly’s work has a personal and expressive quality pulling from the many impressionists artists before her.

“Working en plein air, I find reassurance in fresh air, the sounds of the trees swaying against each other, and the blowing leaves. Oil paint acts as a device to collect special moments of nature onto a solid surface. The light changes, the winds shift, and the scene turns to something new. During this time, I look carefully, but move the brush freely to capture a moment in time.”
